FAQ Electrical Authorizations B1 B1v B2 B2v BR BC
What is the Difference between B1 B1v and B2 B2v Authorizations?
The B1 B1V electrical authorization concerns Electrician Performers: they are authorized to perform electrical work but must necessarily be supervised by a B2 B2V or BR authorized person. The B2 B2V authorized Work Supervisor can supervise a team of electricians or perform electrical work independently (without supervision).
What is the Meaning of the Letter V on B1v and B2v Electrical Authorizations?
The letter V specifies that the authorization holders are authorized to work in a reinforced Low Voltage proximity zone, i.e., less than 30 cm from a live bare part. In this zone, they must be equipped with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, at least Class 0 insulating gloves and a facial protection screen.
What is the Validity Period of B1v B2v BR BC Electrical Authorizations?
The National Institute for Research and Safety recommends renewing your authorization every 3 years (all information on their website). The refresher training lasts from 11 to 14 hours depending on whether it is carried out in-company or inter-company.
I Have an Employee who Only Needs to be Authorized for B1v BR Levels, Can They Participate in this Training?
Yes, absolutely. The training covers all symbols at the theoretical level, but the trainer will adapt the practical training, the theoretical evaluation, and the practical evaluation to the symbols targeted by each trainee.
I Don’t Have an Electrical Diploma, Can I Participate in this Training?
Your electrical skills can come from your professional experience. Standard NFC 18-510 requires as prerequisites for participating in B1V B2V BR BC training: differentiating electrical quantities, identifying protection devices against direct and indirect contacts, identifying electrical equipment, reading an electrical diagram, and recognizing materials from their symbols.
Can I Finance this Training with My Personal Training Account?
Unfortunately, this has no longer been possible since January 1, 2022. France Compétences has deactivated electrical authorizations from the Specific Register, as you can see on their website, making them ineligible for CPF. If you are an individual, financing through France Travail or your Region is possible depending on your situation. If you are self-employed and contribute to the CFP, financing by your Training Insurance Fund is possible.
