B2v Electrical Authorization: Training Program
1. Voltage Domains and Electrical Equipment
Understand the different voltage domains: ELV & LV (low voltage), HV-A & HV-B (high voltage)
Distinguish between electrical works and electrical installations
2. The Dangers of Electricity
The risks of electric current (direct / indirect contact, arcing, short circuit)
Its effects on the human body (electric shock, electrocution, burns, falls…) and equipment (fires)
3. Protecting against Electrical Risk
General principles of prevention and protection and risk assessment
Eliminate electrical risk by design: equipment protection ratings
The 1-step and 2-step lockout procedure and the role of the work supervisor
De-energizing
Collective Protective Equipment (CPE): verification and use
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): verification and use
Implementation of suitable equipment and tools: function and use
4. Electrical Accidents: how to React?
The case of an electric shock victim
Electrical Fire
5. The Electrical Environment and its Zones
Analyze the electrical environment in which one operates (live work / de-energized work, proximity to live bare parts…)
Safety distances: DLI, DLVS, DLVR, DMA
The Environmental Zones (inside a room reserved for electricians, in open field, with an open cabinet / enclosure) and their limits: Investigation Zone (Z0), Simple Proximity Zone (Z1), Reinforced Proximity Zone HV (Z3) and LV (Z4)
6. Electrical Authorization and Standard NF C18-510
The regulations and principles of the standard
The authorization symbols
The limits of each authorization
7. The B2 B2v Electrical Authorization
The limits of the Low Voltage Work Supervisor
The role of the stakeholders during the work
Focus on the lockout supervisor and the electrical operations supervisor: safety instructions, information exchange, documents (lockout certificate, first step lockout certificate, work authorization, work completion notice)
BR Authorization Assessment
- Theoretical assessment: B2V authorization MCQ
- Practical Scenarios

FAQ – B2 B2v Electrical Authorization Training
What are the Prerequisites for Participating in the B2 B2v Training?
Not every employee is qualified to participate in this training:
This is an electrical authorization for electricians, so the trainee must be qualified in electricity via a state diploma, vocational training, or professional experience (3 to 4 years)
Good knowledge of electrical equipment
Ability to use measuring equipment
Ability to lead a team of electricians
Proficiency in French (reading, writing, speaking)
Possess one’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Which Authorizations are Covered by the B2 B2v Electrical Authorization?
The B2 B2V electrical authorization will cover authorizations with a lower index, namely B1 B1V (electrician performing work in proximity) and B0 (non-electrical operations in an environment with electrical risks).
ATTENTION, common errors encountered at VoltWork:
The B2 B2V electrical authorization does not include H0V authorization (non-electrical operations in the vicinity of High Voltage installations)
It also does not include authorization for BR (General Intervention Supervisor in Low Voltage)
If your employee performs operations that fall within this scope, you must remember to get them authorized for it.
