The B1VL B2VL BRL BCL electrical qualification training is intended for electrical professionals who must supervise or carry out electrical work, interventions, and lockouts on electric or hybrid vehicles or electric-powered machinery (forklifts, etc.).
At the end of the training, trainees will be able to work on electric vehicles by applying the prevention measures recommended by standard NF C18-550, including:
- Identify risks related to electrical operations on electric vehicles
- Organize, mark off, and respect the work area
- Check and use PPE
- Lock out and unlock an electric or hybrid vehicle
- Prepare lockout and de-energization documents

- Supervise or carry out electrical work, interventions, and lockouts on electric or hybrid vehicles while complying with the safety requirements of Standard NFC 18-550
- Enable the employer to issue an electrical qualification certificate B1L B1VL and/or B2L B2VL and/or BRL and/or BCL.

Theoretical Training for B1vl B2vl BRL BCL Qualification
- The regulatory framework for qualifications for hybrid and electric vehicles: decrees and standard NFC 18-550
- Understand the different qualifications for working on electric vehicles, their roles and limitations
- The main effects of electric current on the human body and their consequences.
- The architecture of electric or hybrid vehicles and machinery: the characteristics of conductors, insulators, and the degree of protection of connectors (IPXX).
- Location of electrical energy sources on these vehicles/machinery that may pose a risk.
- Procedure to follow in the presence of live bare parts: proximity zones and their limits
- Applicable documents for work, interventions, and lockouts
- Electrical accidents: the procedure to follow
- Theoretical evaluation: knowledge validation test on B1VL B2VL BRL BCL indices
Practical Training for B1vl B2vl BRL BCL Qualification
- Identify risks, proximity zones, and approach distances
- Define, mark off, and ensure compliance with the work area
- Check and use personal protective equipment
- Identify, check, and use appropriate equipment and tools
- Prepare and use applicable documents (work permit, lockout certificate…)
- Install an insulating mat

What is the Meaning of the Different B1vl B2vl BRL BCL Indices?
B1VL concerns electrical workers: they carry out electrical work under the supervision of a B2VL qualified work manager. B2VL concerns electricians who supervise a team or carry out work independently. BRL allows intervention for troubleshooting and maintenance of EVs. Finally, BCL allows locking out an electric vehicle for third parties to work on it.
What is the Validity Period of B1vl B2vl BRL BCL Qualifications?
Standard NF C18-550 recommends refresher training for qualifications every 3 years. You will need to attend a renewal training lasting 11 hours (1.5 days). This training will allow you to update your knowledge of regulations (the standard is regularly amended) and to “refresh” your safety knowledge.
