electrical authorization validity period

What is the Validity Period of an Electrical Authorization?

Any professional who is exposed to electrical risks as part of their work, whether an electrician or not, must be authorized by their employer. The authorization certificate has a validity period of 3 years. After this period, an electrical authorization refresher training must be followed to renew the authorization certificate. The main objectives of this training, which combines theoretical courses and practical simulations, are notably to:

Refresh knowledge on prevention measures to be observed in the presence of an electrical risk.

Present regulatory developments of the NFC-18-510 standard, for example on amendments A1 of 2020 and A2 of 2023.

With Voltwork, we support you in the electrical authorization refresher training for your teams.

FAQ – Electrical Authorization Training Paris

In What Cases should Electrical Authorization be Refreshed before a 3-Year Period?

The authorization must be re-evaluated at least once a year to verify its adequacy for the operations performed by the worker. In addition, refresher training should be considered in the following situations, to ensure that authorized personnel still possess the necessary knowledge to perform the assigned tasks:

•   Changement d’affectation du personnel ou de fonction ;
•   Interruption de la pratique des opérations pendant une période prolongée (minimum six mois) ;
•   Evolution des méthodes de travail ;
•   Evolution de la réglementation ;
•   Evolution technologique des matériels ;
•   Modification importante des ouvrages et installations ;
• Constat d’un manquement aux procédures de sécurité.

The NF C18-510 standard recommends refresher training every three years. However, this periodicity can be adjusted based on the tasks performed. If tasks are occasional or exceptional, it may be necessary to reduce this periodicity.

Do I Need to Have My Previous Electrical Authorization Certificate to Participate in a Refresher Training Course?

Yes, you will need to present your previous post-training notice, if you did not complete your initial training with Voltwork.
